La Palmilla "my' school
Today is Tuesday which means I got to drive to 'my' school for 'Feed the Hungry'. The younger children are usually out for recess when I get there. They have let me play 'Pato, Pato, Ganz" with them... or otherwise known as Duck duck goose!! Last week I took a picture of the game... this week I shared the picture and they were so excited. As a special treat I got a tour of their 'garden'... and class room.
The garden only has cilantro right now... but I think I may perk it up with some radishes... they grow fast... I also got a tour of their class room. Check out my pictures... they are so cute!!!

I have my own school!!
On Tuesday morning I drive for an organization called "Feed the Hungry". The group feeds 4,000 students every school day!!! These are children from the poorest of the poor. Often this is the only meal they get in a day!! To get that meal they must stay in school.
Up until today I have been a driver on call. When needed I was sent to different school each time. ALWAYS an adventure!!
Today I got my very own school. It is the smallest and the poorest that the group supports.
The school is in a tiny dusty poor village called La Palmilla. The roads are washboard at best and the dust is overwhelming. Directions to the school include turn at Abarrotes Lopez, take the split to the left between two other stores etc.. you get the idea!!!
To find out more about this great group please check out the web site.
Some of the things they forgot to mention about driving to my new school can be seen in the pictures!!
OH and Left turn at the Skull!!!

ZACATECAS
What fun we had in Zacatecas!! Eschwan Winding ( see her site www.ezshwan.com ) and I went for 3 days and 2 nights. It was a trip to see art and art we saw. My hero Manuel Felguerez has a museum devoted to his work... for me that made the trip really special. Driving home with Hurricane Alex is something I could have done with out. I recommend a visit to the museums..
and if anyone has 28,000usd to give me I found a painting I want....
Enjoy the pictures from Zacatecas!!
PS We are chipping in to get Eschwan a new umbrella....

Ojala.......Kids learning art, music and more

I spent the afternoon in the country just outside of San Miguel de Allende watching the most amazing group of women, mexican and american teaching over 50 children art and so much much more!!
This group of children are among the poorest of the poor. Not all but most have no running water or electricity in their homes. A family of 6 children are living in an old burned out van with two mattress... and nothing else..
The meal served (more a snack for most kids I know) is sometimes all they may have had that day... Today it was 1/2 a cheese sandwich , one carrot stick and 1/3 of a banana. This is all donated food. ALL this work is done with volunteers and donations... HINT HINT....
Please check out the web site... I got some photos today which I share.. and the website is full of great info and photos...

Easter is the holiest of Holidays in Mexico. Christmas is almost just a day on the calender but Easter they pull out all the stops. From now until Easter Sunday it will be non stop shrines, parades, flowers every where, palm leaves... every house!! It is an interesting time to be in Mexico. I am very lucky to get to live here!!!
