October in Guatemala

Guatemala is a beautiful country and I really enjoyed my visit. I do plan on going back soon as we were unable to see much because of the rain storms and mudslides. The country was hit hard and Antiqua was cut off from much of the country. Was not to hard to spend all the time in that beautiful city!!! Very very upscale city... I was surprised.

Lungs and more

I so hate getting over bronchitis. One minute you can do anything and the next you are laid out trying to catch your breathe.. sigh.... this to will pass and I am so much better today that I feel like I can see the end of the road. Hopefully back to my studio next week.
My Gallery mates hung my new show for me this week. I want to thank them for taking care of this senior citizen!!!

I drove to my school again this Wed.
"My" kids were waiting for me and very excited... they had made me a gift!! They wanted to thank me for driving and for taking and giving them photographs for their school book!!
My little camera has died.. so I could not get a picture at the school but here is a picture of my gift. It is currently living in my studio.. it so makes me smile... Who knew you could have so much beauty from an old soda bottle!

On the Road Again!!

Driving for Feed the Hungry started again today. There was a short break for Easter and Spring vacation.
FTH has a new location for pick up... wow wow... you drive in one end of a large warehouse and out the back in... one stop and you have all the food for your School.
I drive to La Pamilla a little less than an hour drive from San Miguel but an entire different world!
Today 'my' kids were having a Mothers's Day program! All the mothers, grandmothers and younger siblings were sitting at the little desks while their children sang to them. I could not help but watch the faces of the mothers. They were so proud of their children . One of the very young mothers was crying as she watched the performance. For the last song all the children handed there mothers a red carnation and a big hug. It was a great way for me to start my morning!!! Here are a few pictures of "MY " kids...

This is the road in front of the school... Like I said a different world!

Spring parade

Last Thursday I was invited out to 'my' school for the Spring parade. MY school is the one that I drive to for Feed the Hungry. I was so happy to be invited and spent a couple of hours with the kids and my friend Ezchwan hiking up and down dusty roads. Twice we had to move to the side of the road to let the traffic by... in this case the traffic was made up of goats... oh and one pig...
I was honored to crown the Spring Queen... so incorrect in the USA but an honor here!!
Loved the experience and can not wait for next year... oh and NEXT year everyone will get a spring present.. not just the queen and her court.
